Ludhiana achieved a significant milestone in its aviation and infrastructure progress with the opening of Halwara Airport. This airport, a long-awaited demand of the region, aims to enhance trade, connectivity, and industrial growth in Punjab. Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu hailed this development as a historic moment for Ludhiana and Punjab’s economy.
The operationalization of Halwara Airport is set to enhance air connectivity for Ludhiana, a key industrial center known for textiles, hosiery, bicycle manufacturing, and engineering goods. The airport’s opening fulfills a 30-year-old demand and is expected to benefit local industries, economic growth, and export activities. This move is seen as a visionary step by PM Narendra Modi to elevate Ludhiana’s trade and exports.
Halwara Airport’s launch is anticipated to ease travel for residents of neighboring districts and provide a significant impetus to Punjab’s economic infrastructure. Additionally, the airport will facilitate business travel, exports, and investment opportunities, meeting the long-standing demands of industry stakeholders in the region.
Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu also flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express, a modern non-AC train, from Amritsar Junction railway station to New Jalpaiguri. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving connectivity in Punjab and across northern and eastern India. The train service is designed to offer a premium long-distance travel experience at affordable fares, enhancing rail connectivity between Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal.
