The Madhya Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party ousted its Bhind district president of Kisan Morcha, Sajjan Singh Yadav, for leading a convoy of over 100 vehicles during a welcome rally from Gwalior to Bhind, contravening PM Modi’s call for fuel and energy conservation. This disciplinary action is reportedly the first of its kind taken by the party post the Prime Minister’s appeal.
Sajjan Singh Yadav’s use of a lengthy vehicle convoy from Bhind to Bhopal stood out, especially as Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and other ministers had already reduced their convoy sizes in support of the PM’s initiative. The state BJP Kisan Morcha acted swiftly after videos of the May 13 rally, showcasing excessive fuel consumption, circulated widely on social media.
In an official communication by the state Kisan Morcha president, Jaypal Singh Chawda, it was mentioned that the rally led by Yadav demonstrated “indiscipline” and overlooked PM Modi’s consistent message on fuel conservation and curbing unnecessary energy use. The notification issued by the Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha head on May 14 criticized Yadav for disregarding the Prime Minister’s energy-saving appeal.
According to party insiders, the rally comprised more than 100 vehicles covering a distance of nearly 75 km from Gwalior to Bhind to welcome Yadav. The extensive convoy triggered online discussions, with many questioning the rationale behind using numerous vehicles when the government advocates for energy efficiency. This action by the Madhya Pradesh BJP leadership is viewed as a step to ensure adherence to the Prime Minister’s public campaigns and maintain discipline among party members.
