The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved a substantial increase in scholarship amounts to support students from backward classes. Under this decision, students pursuing higher education in Delhi from these classes will now receive Rs 10,000 per month, a significant rise from the previous Rs 1,550. This enhanced financial aid will benefit a hundred new students annually, with equal distribution between undergraduate and postgraduate applicants who meet the scholarship eligibility and income criteria.

The state has also committed to a comprehensive development agenda exceeding Rs 26,800 crore, as per a press release. Additionally, there have been revised administrative approvals for medical colleges in Bhopal and Rewa. Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal is set to receive nearly Rs 80 crore to expand postgraduate seats and establish specialized units like the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. Furthermore, the Super Speciality Hospital at Shyam Shah Medical College in Rewa will undergo expansion with a sanctioned amount of Rs 175 crore, emphasizing the government’s focus on enhancing healthcare quality statewide.

A significant portion of the allocated funds, totaling Rs 26,311 crore, is designated for the Public Works Department to undertake construction and renovation projects over the next five years. This financial provision encompasses road renewals, establishment of divisional offices, and substantial land acquisition compensation to modernize the state’s infrastructure by 2031. The recent cabinet meeting also addressed critical rural and social needs through specialized financial provisions, including the approval of the Rs 155.82 crore Lakhundar High Pressure Micro Irrigation Project to provide irrigation facilities to 9,200 hectares of land across 24 villages in Shajapur and Ujjain districts.

Moreover, Rs 80.41 crore has been sanctioned for the electrification of 38,901 Anganwadi buildings, ensuring children have access to amenities like fans, coolers, and educational tools for a conducive learning environment.
