Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh has lifted a 23-year-old restriction by abolishing the two-child norm for government jobs in the state. This decision will benefit numerous aspirants and employees who were previously affected by this rule. The General Administration Department has been instructed to remove the provision from the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Rules immediately.
The two-child norm was implemented in 2001 as a population control measure, disqualifying candidates with more than two children from government service. This rule impacted both new applicants and existing employees, leading to disciplinary actions for those violating the norm. Chief Minister Yadav’s directive aims to eliminate these restrictions based on family size and initiate a revised draft following due process.
The removal of the two-child restriction in Madhya Pradesh signifies a significant change in service rules after more than two decades. This move brings relief to job seekers who were previously ineligible due to family size constraints. The government has ensured that the existing draft is withdrawn to avoid confusion during ongoing recruitment processes, with revised rules to be published for public feedback before final implementation.
