Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav responded to Congress allegations by emphasizing the state’s agricultural advancements and improved power supply. He stated that farmers previously faced long electricity waits under Congress rule, but now receive timely power, reducing risks associated with nighttime irrigation. The BJP-led government, during the ‘Krishi Kalyan Year’ 2026, has significantly expanded the irrigated area in the state, with a recent increase of 10 lakh hectares, totaling 55 lakh hectares.
Chief Minister Yadav credited former BJP Chief Ministers for the state’s growth over the past two decades, including Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uma Bharti, and Babulal Gaur. He highlighted the government’s commitment to farmers by offering a bonus of Rs 40 per quintal above the Minimum Support Price for wheat. Yadav compared the wheat MSP under Congress rule, which increased by only Rs 400 until 2003, to the current Rs 2,625 per quintal, showcasing the BJP’s support for farmers.
Under the BJP’s leadership, Madhya Pradesh witnessed a rise in irrigated area by 7.31 lakh hectares in the last two years, exceeding a total of 45 lakh hectares. Chief Minister Yadav praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives for farmers, such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, ensuring financial aid. During his visit to Vidisha, Yadav inaugurated development projects worth Rs 163.62 crore for the district, reinforcing the government’s commitment to progress and welfare.
