Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav initiated a 15-day cyber awareness campaign named Safe Click 2.0, spanning over 50,000 villages in the state. The campaign, running from June 24 to July 8, aims to educate citizens about online threats like fraud, deepfakes, and ransomware. Various awareness programs will be conducted in schools, banks, markets, and government offices to promote cyber safety.
Yadav, at the campaign’s launch in Bhopal, emphasized the importance of public vigilance against cybercrime, labeling it a significant challenge in the digital era. He highlighted the need for awareness, caution, and active participation as defenses against cyber threats that can infiltrate homes unnoticed. Cybercriminals are increasingly resorting to tactics like fake investment schemes, phishing, and data breaches to target individuals.
The Chief Minister underscored the deceptive nature of cybercriminals who exploit technology to perpetrate fraud and advised citizens to exercise caution when encountering suspicious calls or messages. As part of the campaign, Yadav unveiled promotional materials and a cyber awareness video, along with a mobile chariot to spread awareness across the state.
Director General of Police Kailash Makwana emphasized that cybercrime extends beyond financial implications to impact social trust and national security. He revealed that a significant portion of cybercrime complaints received by the police relate to financial fraud. The police have introduced measures like the e-Zero FIR for cyber fraud cases up to Rs 1 lakh and offer assistance through the cybercrime helpline 1930.
The campaign will address various themes daily, including banking security, women’s safety, rural cyber awareness, and responsible digital conduct. The objective is to transform cybersecurity into a widespread movement for awareness throughout Madhya Pradesh.
