Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav praised the recent decision by the Centre to raise the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 14 kharif crops for the 2026-27 marketing season. This move is expected to directly benefit farmers in the state and enhance the agriculture sector. The revised MSP was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Yadav expressed his appreciation to PM Modi for consistently taking steps to boost farmers’ income and agricultural progress. He emphasized that the increased MSP for kharif crops will not only fortify the agriculture sector but also elevate the earnings of farmers. Yadav highlighted that this decision will have a positive impact on numerous farmers in Madhya Pradesh, where agriculture plays a crucial role in the economy.
Yadav also underscored the state’s initiatives for farmers, mentioning the observance of 2026 as “Farmer Welfare Year” in Madhya Pradesh. Various farmer-centric programs are being conducted throughout the state, including exhibitions showcasing advanced agricultural machinery, awareness campaigns on government schemes, and training sessions on modern farming techniques to enhance productivity.
The revised MSP structure reveals notable increases, with sunflower seed witnessing the highest rise of Rs 622 per quintal. Additionally, the MSP for cotton, niger seed, and sesame has been raised by Rs 557, Rs 515, and Rs 500 per quintal, respectively. The government projects substantial returns over production costs, with moong expected to yield the highest return at 61%, followed by bajra, maize, and tur at 56%, 56%, and 54%, respectively.
