Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav introduced the ‘Drishti’ online audit platform and a payment gateway on the ‘Panchayat Darpan’ portal to enhance transparency and efficiency in Panchayat administration. The digital initiatives aim to leverage technology for better governance at the grassroots level and ensure transparency in Panchayati Raj institutions.
The ‘Drishti’ platform allows auditors to conduct financial audits of Panchayats online, streamlining the process and enhancing transparency. Developed by the Directorate of Panchayat Raj with technical support from the National Informatics Centre, the platform enables remote access to income and expenditure records of all 23,011 Gram Panchayats in the state.
Additionally, a payment gateway integrated with the ‘Panchayat Darpan’ portal was inaugurated, enabling online bill generation by Panchayats and digital payments by citizens from their homes. These initiatives, jointly developed by various entities, aim to reduce paperwork, enhance financial transparency, and improve accessibility to public services in rural areas.
Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel emphasized that these digital reforms are geared towards strengthening financial discipline, transparency, and accountability in Panchayat functioning. The initiatives are expected to automate financial record management, expedite audits and public payments, and ultimately enhance governance at the village level.
