Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has taken a significant step in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation and sustainability. He has become the first CM in India to include an electric vehicle in his official convoy. CM Yadav recently incorporated a Mahindra XUV 9e electric SUV, capable of covering up to 500 km on a single charge, setting a strong example of environmental consciousness in governance.
The registration plate of the electric vehicle, MP-02-VB-2047, holds symbolic significance with ‘VB’ representing “Viksit Bharat” and ‘2047’ reflecting PM Modi’s vision for a developed India by the 100th year of Independence. The modern features of the vehicle, such as a 360-degree camera, highlight technological advancement and the Chief Minister’s dedication to green mobility. Drivers assigned to the EV have undergone specialized training for its operation, as per a press note.
CM Mohan Yadav has been actively advocating for environmental conservation as a crucial aspect of development. He has been promoting solar energy initiatives and recently took part in releasing vultures and crocodiles in the state. Yadav believes that development cannot be complete without environmental conservation and sees solar-powered solutions as a way towards sustainable progress not only for India but globally.
This move is part of Yadav’s broader efforts towards austerity, as seen in his recent travels using public transport like a Tempo Traveller and a tourist bus. By opting for an electric vehicle for official use, CM Mohan Yadav underscores his government’s emphasis on sustainability, self-reliance, and responsible governance. This step is anticipated to promote the adoption of green technology within government departments and encourage citizens to opt for cleaner mobility choices, according to the press note.
