Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited the family of Gurkirat Singh, who was tragically murdered in Canada, at their residence in Parshwanath City, Ujjain. Gurkirat, the son of businessman Gurjeet Singh Manocha, was pursuing studies in British Columbia when he was fatally attacked on March 14. The bereaved family, devastated by the loss, requested government support to conduct the final rites in Canada.
Accompanied by Ujjain’s Member of Parliament Anil Firojiya, Chief Minister Yadav paid his respects at the Manocha home, offering condolences and support to the grieving family. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, the Chief Minister highlighted Gurkirat’s aspirations for higher education abroad and extended heartfelt condolences to the family through social media.
During the meeting, Gurjeet Singh Manocha sought assistance for conducting the funeral rites in Canada and bringing Gurkirat’s ashes back to Ujjain for final ceremonies. He urgently requested visas for Gurkirat’s elder brother and cousin to facilitate their travel. Additionally, financial aid of approximately Rs 50 lakh was sought to cover travel and medical expenses incurred in Canada.
Assuring the family of support, both leaders pledged to expedite the visa process and explore financial assistance options. The Chief Minister and the Member of Parliament listened to the family’s concerns attentively and promised to assist in every possible way.
