Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed sorrow over the passing of three individuals in Bhagirathpura, Indore, due to consuming polluted water. He offered condolences to the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those receiving medical care. The Chief Minister pledged Rs 2 lakh as ex gratia to each bereaved family and assured that the state government would cover treatment expenses for all affected individuals.
The tragic incident in Bhagirathpura has caused alarm following the deaths and increasing hospitalizations due to suspected contaminated tap water. Over 66 people have been hospitalized in various government and private medical facilities. To address the situation, 22 medical teams led by senior doctors have been dispatched to villages possibly impacted by the tainted water supply.
In response to the crisis, Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari called for accountability, holding the Indore Municipal Commissioner and Mayor responsible for the fatalities. Patwari emphasized this during a visit to the hospital on Tuesday evening.
