Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to join the 26th Central Zonal Council meeting in Bastar district, Chhattisgarh on May 19. The purpose of the visit is to discuss issues between the Centre and states for amicable resolutions. The meeting will emphasize enhancing regional development and security coordination in the central zone, as per the Chief Minister’s Office statement.
Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah will lead the meeting as Chairman of the Central Zonal Council. The Council includes member states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh is hosting this year’s gathering.
Apart from Mohan Yadav, other attendees will be Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. Chief Secretaries of the member states, NITI Aayog representatives, Inter-State Council members, and senior officials will also participate in the discussions.
The agenda will cover topics such as law and order, development projects, and issues requiring coordination between states and the Centre. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who arrived in Chhattisgarh on May 18, will chair the Central Zonal Council meeting in Jagdalpur on May 19. The meeting aims to address regional development and security challenges with neighboring state chief ministers.
The Home Minister’s visit is expected to highlight the government’s vision for a “Naxal-free and developed Bastar,” emphasizing peace, stability, and inclusive governance in areas previously impacted by Left-Wing Extremism. For Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the Jagdalpur visit underscores Madhya Pradesh’s role in inter-state coordination on various issues across the central zone.
