Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced plans to expedite the Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor project, increasing the share of developed land allocated to farmers. The Bhoomi Pujan for the project’s first phase is scheduled for May 3 at Sector A, Village Nainod, Indore. This initial phase, costing approximately Rs 326.51 crore, will kickstart infrastructure development activities.
The allocation of land to farmers has been raised from 50% to 60%, a move aimed at boosting farmers’ confidence and encouraging their voluntary involvement in the project. The Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor initiative is a key project designed to revamp the region’s industrial landscape. It involves planned development along a 300-meter zone on both sides of a 75-meter-wide, 20-kilometer-long road.
The project, covering 1,300 hectares of land with an estimated cost of Rs 2,360 crore, aims to provide modern infrastructure and facilities for industrial, commercial, and service sectors. This is expected to attract significant investments and generate new job opportunities. One of the main challenges faced was acquiring land with farmers’ consent, given the high demand for land in the area near Indore city.
By prioritizing farmers’ interests, Chief Minister Yadav has managed to strike a balance between development objectives and community welfare. This approach has led to increased farmer participation, ensuring smoother progress for the corridor project. Under the scheme, farmers will receive developed land with basic amenities like roads, electricity, and water supply in exchange for their original land.
With the enhanced allocation of 60%, farmers are poised to gain higher financial value in the long run. They can utilize this land for residential, commercial, or other economic activities, creating sustainable income sources for themselves and their families. The project is anticipated to enhance connectivity, promote modern infrastructure, and establish a favorable environment for industrial expansion.
In addition, local youth are set to benefit from fresh employment prospects, injecting new energy into the region’s socio-economic advancement.
