State Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, along with BJP leader, oversaw the health crisis response. The Madhya Pradesh Congress formed a committee, including former ministers, to assess the situation and submit a report by January 5, 2026. The Indore High Court directed the state government to submit a status report by January 2 on the contaminated water incident.
Minister Vijayvargiya mentioned seven deaths reported by Wednesday afternoon, with ongoing monitoring for proper treatment. Over 100 people are still under treatment in Indore hospitals, with symptoms like vomiting and dehydration. Initial investigations linked the outbreak to sewage mixing with drinking water due to a pipeline leakage.
