Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that his government will take strict measures against those causing unrest in the state following a clash between two groups in Tarana town, Ujjain district. Addressing the media in Jabalpur, he emphasized his administration’s commitment to good governance. Yadav asserted, “We address system flaws decisively and can handle anyone disturbing the state’s peace.”

The conflict erupted when a group reportedly assaulted two individuals, including a Hindu outfit member, over a minor disagreement in Tarana. Subsequently, tensions escalated on Friday as both factions hurled stones at each other, leading to increased police presence and security measures. Videos circulating on social media captured the stone-pelting incident during the clash.

In response to the situation, Ujjain Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma disclosed that around 20 individuals have been apprehended and are undergoing interrogation. The district administration imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) while conducting flag marches in Tarana to maintain order. Sharma assured that the current scenario is under control, with reinforced security to prevent further escalations.

Authorities highlighted efforts to combat misinformation and panic-mongering, with police actively monitoring the area and scrutinizing CCTV footage to identify instigators. Loudspeaker announcements cautioning against rumors and urging compliance with law enforcement directives are being made in affected neighborhoods. Traffic flow in impacted zones has resumed, with police vigilance to address emerging challenges.

Notably, Tarana, the site of the clash, falls within Ujjain, the hometown of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who oversees the home portfolio. The town also represents one of the Assembly constituencies in the district, held by Congress MLA Mahesh Parmar.
