The Madhya Pradesh government has established a Cabinet Committee to oversee the potential impact on the state arising from events in the Middle East. This three-member panel includes Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Deora, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput, and MSME Minister Chaitanya Kumar Kashyap.
This committee will convene regular meetings to address issues faced by Madhya Pradesh residents residing in Central Asia. It will focus on ensuring the availability of petroleum products, LPG, fertilisers, and other essential goods in the state. Recommendations will be submitted in this regard as stated in a release issued on Tuesday night.
The committee is tasked with providing suggestions to the state government on necessary actions or policy decisions in alignment with directives from the Central government. Additionally, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department will act as the Member Secretary of the committee.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held discussions with Cabinet Ministers and senior officials earlier in the day regarding the implications of the Gulf countries’ conflict. He emphasized the importance of monitoring the supply of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas, ensuring that there are no shortages in the state. Efforts are also underway to facilitate the safe return of 255 individuals contacted through the state government’s helpline.
MSME Minister Chaitanya Kashyap later confirmed the ample availability of petrol, diesel, and domestic gas in Madhya Pradesh. He assured that the supply of domestic gas cylinders is being consistently maintained to prevent inconvenience for regular consumers. Following instructions from the Centre, the delivery of commercial gas cylinders in Madhya Pradesh has been halted since Monday.
