The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta conducted searches at nine locations in Indore, Dhar, and Morena regarding a disproportionate assets case involving a senior finance officer of the Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company. Initial findings suggest that the officer possessed assets approximately 258% higher than his known income sources.

The searches, which commenced early morning, targeted residential, commercial, and industrial properties associated with the officer and his family members. A case has been filed under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

According to the Lokayukta, the officer, with 33 years of government service, reportedly earned a net salary of around Rs 2 crore. However, investigations have revealed assets and investments exceeding Rs 6.5 crore in the officer’s and his family’s names, with total outgo estimated at over Rs 7.16 crore, indicating assets significantly surpassing known income sources.

Teams led by Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Rajesh Sahay, along with other officials, searched properties, examined records, bank accounts, and suspected benami investments. Discoveries included properties like a three-storey house in Indore’s Silicon City valued at Rs 1.2 crore and a two-storey house in Morena worth about Rs 50 lakh.
