Madhya Pradesh has seen a 24% increase in rainfall compared to the long-period average from June 1 to June 8, providing relief to farmers and signaling a promising monsoon season, as per the Meteorological Department. The state has already received over 12.7 mm of rain, surpassing the 8.3 mm long-period average for this period.
Various districts, including Bhopal, Agar-Malwa, and Shajapur, have experienced heavy rainfall, with some areas receiving up to 50 mm of rain. Additionally, regions like Satna, Sidhi, Raisen, and others have recorded around 25 mm of rainfall.
In the recent 24-hour period, significant rainfall was observed in Sehore, Khategaon, and Dewas areas, with the Bhopal weather center issuing warnings for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in multiple districts. The monsoon is expected to reach Madhya Pradesh between June 15 and 18, aligning with the usual schedule, with the current rains contributing to the overall monsoon rainfall for June-September.
Thunderstorms and rain have already affected various areas, and while the surplus rainfall is beneficial for agriculture, farmers are advised to watch out for potential waterlogging and lightning hazards in the upcoming days.
