Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that Maharashtra’s agriculture sector has been strengthened with the approval of the second instalment of Rs 335 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY). This approval has positioned Maharashtra as the first state to qualify for this funding. CM Fadnavis expressed gratitude to Union Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for approving the instalment, highlighting Maharashtra’s effective utilization of PM-RKVY funds.

Maharashtra Minister of Agriculture Dattatray Bharane, attending a virtual meeting chaired by Minister Chouhan, mentioned that the state has successfully utilized over 75 per cent of the allocated funds under PM-RKVY. Additionally, Maharashtra has excelled in the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), achieving an expenditure rate of 81.73 per cent. The Centre’s approval of Rs 335 crore, along with Maharashtra’s matching state contribution, now provides a total fund of Rs 558 crore for agricultural development in the state.

Minister Bharane outlined that the allocated funds will be directed towards crucial sectors such as micro-irrigation, farm mechanization, organic farming initiatives, and soil health management. The meeting also focused on advancing digital agriculture initiatives. Minister Chouhan emphasized the need to expedite fund spending in digital projects to bring modern technology to farmers swiftly, ensuring effective utilization of allocated funds to maximize benefits for farmers. Maharashtra remains dedicated to modernizing agriculture in collaboration with the Centre, aiming to deliver scheme benefits directly to farmers.
