The Maharashtra BJP has formally issued a show-cause notice to party legislator Prakash Bharsakale for collaborating with AIMIM in the Akot Municipal Council. The notice, signed by BJP State President Ravindra Chavan, accuses Bharsakale of undermining the party’s core principles by forming an alliance without consultation.
Bharsakale allegedly entered into a tactical alliance with AIMIM in the recent 2025 elections in the Akot Municipal Council without informing party leadership. The BJP has demanded an immediate explanation from Bharsakale regarding his actions and why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.
Prakash Bharsakale, a seasoned politician in Akola district, has been a BJP member since 2012. He led the formation of ‘Akot Vikas Manch’ after securing 11 seats in the Akot Municipal Council. The alliance, which includes AIMIM, Shiv Sena, NCP, and other parties, now commands 26 members in the 33-member house.
The BJP-AIMIM alliance in the Akot Municipal Council has stirred controversy due to their ideological differences. This move has faced criticism from Shiv Sena and opposition parties, accusing the BJP of compromising its ideology for power. The BJP has issued a ‘whip’ to ensure all members of the coalition vote according to the party’s instructions.
