Satish Talekar, a Maharashtra BJP leader and State Coordinator of the Ayushman Bharat Mission, highlighted the effective implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state. He emphasized that the scheme has been a lifeline for poor and middle-class families, bringing significant positive changes to millions of lives. Under this initiative, eligible families receive health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh, proving crucial during serious illnesses or medical emergencies.
Talekar pointed out that the Ayushman Bharat Mission has addressed a major concern of economically weaker families by providing access to affordable healthcare. This has enabled people to access quality medical treatment without facing financial burdens. Over the past six years, more than 20 crore Ayushman cards have been distributed in Maharashtra, positioning the state as one of the top performers in implementing the scheme nationwide.
Efforts are continuously being made to expand the coverage of the scheme to include more citizens. Talekar mentioned that patients are receiving timely and appropriate treatment under the scheme, with additional financial assistance available through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the Central government in case of exceeding treatment costs. Empanelled hospitals in the state have Arogya Mitras to assist patients and their families, ensuring smooth access to scheme-related information and services.
At the party level, extensive work is being done to guarantee the success of the Ayushman Bharat Mission. District-level Ayushman Bharat teams, comprising nearly 600 members, are actively engaged in Maharashtra. Talekar highlighted the prompt response of his team to ensure that patients admitted to city hospitals from villages receive full benefits under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The BJP’s goal is to ensure that every eligible person in the state benefits from the scheme and that government healthcare facilities reach all those in need.
