Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the ‘MahaChatur Artificial Intelligence chatbot’ on Monday, aiming to facilitate the transition from education to employment by offering a unified platform for skill development, job prospects, and entrepreneurial guidance. Fadnavis emphasized India’s youthful demographic, with 65% of the population under 35, highlighting the need for skilled manpower in industries and job opportunities for the youth. The ‘MahaChatur chatbot’ on WhatsApp serves as a comprehensive solution for skill training information, job applications, entrepreneurship support, market connections, assessments, and grievance redressal.
A key feature of the platform, according to Fadnavis, is its impact on streamlining the apprenticeship registration process. Previously taking two to three days, registration under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme and the Maharashtra Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme can now be completed in just 15 minutes. Developed in collaboration with the ‘RightWalk Foundation’, the chatbot operates on secure government servers, utilizing open-source Artificial Intelligence to ensure data privacy for users across rural and urban areas. Minister for Skills and Entrepreneurship, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, affirmed the department’s commitment to organizing the unorganized skill sector, acknowledging the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in creating new opportunities for Maharashtra’s youth and linking them to the global labor market.
The government also entered into partnerships with UN Women, IPE Global Limited, National Skill Training Institute, Srimad Rajchandra Educational Trust, and Sri Sri Rural Development Programme Trust to expand skill initiatives to various groups, including women and prison inmates. These collaborations aim to enhance data security, provide industry-led training, and promote skill development.
