Highlighting Maharashtra’s significant contribution to the national GDP, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented the “Viksit Maharashtra 2047” vision document at the NITI Aayog meeting. Fadnavis stressed the importance of human capital in propelling India towards developed nation status by 2047, alongside physical infrastructure.
The strategic economic roadmap outlined by the Chief Minister aims for a $1 trillion economy by 2030, escalating to $2 trillion by 2035, and ultimately reaching $5 trillion by 2047. To ensure effective implementation, state departments have devised detailed action plans up to 2029-30.
Maharashtra’s advancements in education, including its performance in the Ministry of Education’s Performance Grading Index and initiatives like Poshan Bhi – Padhai Bhi, were highlighted. The state has also taken pioneering steps in implementing the National Education Policy 2020 and announced plans for an international-level “Educity” near Navi Mumbai International Airport.
