Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticized Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, alleging he has abandoned the Hindutva ideology of his father, Balasaheb Thackeray. Fadnavis claimed that events linked to Thackeray’s camp saw slogans in favor of Pakistan and participation of individuals accused in the Mumbai bomb blast case.
Fadnavis emphasized the BJP’s commitment to Hindutva, stating that anyone upholding Indian culture and traditions is considered Hindu by their party. He condemned what he perceived as appeasement politics by Thackeray, asserting it would not be tolerated.
Addressing the controversy over references to Khan, Pathan, and burqa, Fadnavis blamed the opposition for politicizing the issue. He highlighted the BJP’s focus on development, contrasting it with what he described as identity-based distractions from the opposition.
Fadnavis challenged Thackeray to showcase a speech focused on development, offering a reward for evidence. The upcoming civic polls in Maharashtra, including the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, are scheduled for Thursday, with vote counting on Friday.
