Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed sorrow over the under-construction metro pillar collapse in Mumbai’s Mulund area. One person died, and four others were injured as a parapet wall from the bridge fell onto vehicles below. Fadnavis pledged Rs 5 lakh for the deceased’s family and ordered an inquiry.
The incident involved a section of the parapet wall collapsing onto LBS Road, hitting an auto-rickshaw and a car. Emergency services responded swiftly to the sudden collapse, causing panic in the area. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is providing medical aid to the injured.
Ramdhan Yadav was identified as the deceased, while the injured include Rajkumar Indrajeet Yadav in critical condition. The MMRDA initiated a formal inquiry to determine the collapse’s cause and review safety measures. Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad raised concerns about public safety in the wake of the incident.
