Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stands firmly behind the legacy of Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar. Addressing concerns over Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s alleged opposition to Savarkar’s ideology, Fadnavis clarified that he does not believe Pawar holds such views. Despite this, the BJP remains resolute in its support for Savarkar’s principles.
Amidst preparations for the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections, CM Fadnavis addressed the escalating tensions within the alliance. He stated that there is no evidence of Ajit Pawar opposing Veer Savarkar’s beliefs and affirmed the BJP’s unwavering stance on the matter. The rift between the parties deepened when Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar issued a stern warning to the NCP leadership, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to Savarkar’s ideals.
The disagreement initially surfaced during a press conference in Pune, where Ajit Pawar criticized certain BJP policies and local leadership decisions. This led to a public exchange of differing viewpoints, with BJP leaders challenging the NCP’s alignment with Hindutva principles. As the parties gear up for the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections, the ideological differences between them have become more pronounced.
