To strengthen the economic ties between India and Cyprus, a ‘Cyprus Trade Center’ is set to open in Mumbai, facilitating Indian companies’ access to the European market. The center, operational from September 1, aims to enhance cooperation and ease entry into the European Union market. Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides emphasized the strategic partnership between the two nations, especially after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus in 2025, which boosted economic relations significantly.
Describing Cyprus as a crucial gateway to Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Middle East, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized its strengths in maritime transport, logistics, financial services, and innovation. The collaboration between Cyprus’s financial network and India’s digital economy is expected to open up new avenues for cross-border financial transactions and digital innovation. The establishment of the Cyprus Trade Center in Mumbai is seen as a significant step towards fostering partnerships and enhancing trade opportunities between the two countries.
