Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and vision, emphasizing the significant transformations witnessed in the past 12 years. He highlighted the nation’s shift towards self-reliance, shedding its image of dependency and gaining global recognition. Fadnavis noted the extensive structural, economic, and social reforms that have broken decades of policy paralysis, leading to a more robust and self-reliant foundation.
Speaking at the release of a commemorative book marking PM Modi’s 12 years in office, Fadnavis reflected on the economic and social progress achieved since 2014. He praised the Prime Minister’s pro-poor policies for uplifting over 25 crore people out of extreme poverty, a milestone unparalleled globally. Additionally, Fadnavis pointed out the remarkable growth in India’s GDP under PM Modi’s leadership, tripling from Rs 103 lakh crore to around Rs 357 lakh crore, with Maharashtra’s GDP also witnessing substantial growth during the same period.
Fadnavis also highlighted key economic reforms such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), emphasizing their role in transforming India into a single market and boosting foreign direct investment. He credited initiatives like the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity and UPI for reducing grassroots-level corruption by enabling direct benefit transfers. Furthermore, Fadnavis underscored India’s transition from a defense importer to an exporter, with defense exports reaching Rs 50,000 crore, showcasing enhanced strategic preparedness through recent operations and border infrastructure development.
The Chief Minister lauded the government’s focus on empowering key pillars of society, including the poor, farmers, youth, and women. He described the released coffee table book as a valuable testament to how administrative determination translates into grassroots empowerment. The event, organized by the Maharashtra BJP, was attended by prominent party members and media representatives, with the special issue released in Marathi and Hindi.
