Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis extended his best wishes to the BJP-Shiv Sena candidates for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. He expressed confidence in the Mahayuti alliance and believed that the people of Mumbai would support and elect all candidates with a significant majority. The BJP will contest 137 seats, while Shiv Sena will contest 90 seats, with other Mahayuti parties also included in the process.
In a statement, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized the commitment to Mumbai’s development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He highlighted the ongoing development initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Mumbaikars and expressed optimism about their support for the Mahayuti candidates. The seat-sharing arrangement was finalized after discussions between BJP, Shiv Sena, and RPI, with BJP and Shiv Sena allies receiving tickets from their respective quotas.
The seat-sharing formula was jointly announced by Mumbai BJP chief Amit Satam and Shiv Sena’s former MP Rahul Shewale. Satam mentioned that the BJP and Shiv Sena allies would collaborate on a campaign focused on Hindutva values to secure victory in the BMC elections. He assured that the Mahayuti Mayor, representing the people of Mumbai, would assume office post-election with the voters’ support. Satam reiterated that the ticket distribution process involved all parties to avoid any discontent.
The alliance dynamics have intensified with Uddhav and Raj Thackeray forming an alliance to counter the BJP-led Mahayuti in the BMC elections. Despite this, the Mahayuti downplayed the alliance, emphasizing its dedication to Mumbai’s progress over power struggles. Notably, the NCP led by Ajit Pawar is contesting the BMC elections independently, remaining outside the Mahayuti coalition.
