Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Harshwardhan Sapkal criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Iteehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) for exploiting religious tensions for their political gains. Sapkal highlighted how these parties incite divisions based on religion and caste but collaborate for power. He urged Maharashtra voters to reject the BJP, Shiv Sena, and AIMIM in the upcoming municipal elections and support the Congress for a decisive victory.
Sapkal pointed out that both the BJP and AIMIM are sowing fear among the public by emphasizing Hindu-Muslim issues while forming alliances behind the scenes. He emphasized the need to expose the hypocrisy of these parties that stoke fear to gain power. Sapkal cited instances where the BJP and AIMIM partnered for political advantage, despite public statements to the contrary, illustrating their shared interests in power dynamics.
Congress Legislative Party Leader Vijay Wadettiwar criticized the BJP for questioning the Congress’s legacy while neglecting essential civic issues in Chandrapur. Wadettiwar highlighted the poor infrastructure in the city, including potholed roads and water scarcity, attributing it to the BJP’s governance. He promised significant improvements under Congress rule, such as better healthcare facilities, new English-medium schools, and improved water supply. Wadettiwar expressed confidence in the Congress’s electoral prospects in Chandrapur, envisioning a substantial victory for the party in the upcoming municipal corporation elections.
