Maharashtra Congress leaders staged a protest against the BJP for their handling of the NEET paper leak issue and treatment of opposition members. The protest march from Gandhi Bhavan to the BJP office in South Mumbai was disrupted by police near Regal Cinema. Protesters voiced slogans condemning the government’s actions.
The protest, led by Congress State President Harshwardhan Sapkal, included prominent party members like Vijay Wadettiwar and Naseem Khan. Sapkal criticized the government for neglecting student welfare and mishandling examinations. He accused the administration of ignoring demands for exam reform discussions.
Sapkal highlighted the “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign launched by the Congress Party and LoP Rahul Gandhi to support affected students. The demand for a public apology from PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for police actions in Delhi was emphasized. The Congress Party called for the resignation of the Union Education Minister and withdrawal of cases against protesting students.
Future strategies will be discussed with Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders, as the fight for student rights continues. Congress confirmed support for the Maharashtra Bandh by Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi. Regarding Sharad Pawar’s meeting with PM Modi, Sapkal deferred comments to Pawar and his party leaders.
