The Maharashtra Congress is set to launch a statewide protest against the BJP and the RSS for the alleged theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram temple. State Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal expressed concern over devotees’ contributions being plundered, emphasizing the significance of the issue. The party plans to demand strict punishment for those responsible and will kick off the protest at the Kalaram Temple in Nashik.
The protest will commence officially on Tuesday at 11 a.m., followed by a ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ Satyagraha from July 9 to July 14 across all districts. During this period, prayers will be offered at local temples seeking enlightenment for those involved in the misappropriation of funds. The Congress party’s move comes after the Shiv Sena initiated a “Ram Raksha Andolan” to address financial irregularities at the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.
UBT leaders have demanded accountability over the alleged embezzlement of donations, calling for the dissolution of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The protest, marked by the chanting of religious verses, aims to highlight the need for transparency in managing temple funds. Uddhav Thackeray, emphasizing the party’s commitment to Hindutva, criticized the BJP for exploiting religious sentiments for political gains.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responded to the agitation, questioning the timing and motives behind the protests. Fadnavis urged for a more sincere approach towards religious practices, hinting at the political undertones of the demonstrations. The escalating tensions between political parties reflect growing concerns over the management of religious donations and the exploitation of faith for vested interests.
