Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed confidence in the victory of Shiv Sena-BJP Mahayuti candidates in the upcoming local civic elections. Shinde highlighted the positive response from the public, stating that people are determined to bring change to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation by supporting Mahayuti candidates. The alliance is expected to secure power in the BMC, with the Mayor also likely to be from Mahayuti.

Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC echoed Shinde’s optimism, projecting that Mahayuti could win over 150 seats in Mumbai city. Emphasizing a focus on development, Shaina NC praised the work of leaders like Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde in areas such as environment, healthcare, education, sewage treatment, and infrastructure improvements. She emphasized that the alliance’s campaign is centered on tangible results and not just rhetoric.

The official poll process for the municipal elections, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), commenced with the notification in December 2025. Scheduled for January 15, 2026, the elections will see voting from 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., with results expected on January 16. Over one crore voters are eligible to participate in the BMC elections across 227 wards, with 1,700 candidates vying for positions.
