In a press conference, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde criticized the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction for backing Sonam Wangchuk’s protest in Delhi, accusing them of fueling instability nationwide. Shinde highlighted various topics discussed, including Hindutva, the Ram Temple, Article 370, PM Modi’s leadership, opposition politics, the NDA alliance, paper leaks, and regional governance actions.
Shinde described the UBT faction’s stance as reactive rather than proactive, likening it to “Tails on fire, but rushing to put out mountain blazes.” He criticized their tendency to support protests from a distance without actively participating on the ground. Shinde also accused the opposition of fear-mongering by drawing parallels between India and crisis-hit nations like Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
Shinde emphasized the contrasting economic situation between India and crisis-ridden countries, lauding PM Modi’s efforts in propelling India towards economic prosperity. He dismissed comparisons between India and other nations as political opportunism, highlighting the government’s initiatives to uplift millions from poverty. Shinde also defended Hindutva, questioning the UBT faction’s ideological stance and alliances.
