Maharashtra Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore confirmed in the Legislative Assembly that funds for the Gharkul (Housing) Scheme are sufficient, guaranteeing continued disbursement of installments to beneficiaries without interruption. The government aims to construct 15 lakh houses in the state within the upcoming year.
In response to queries from various members, Minister Gore disclosed that last year, the state had targeted over 29 lakh houses, with more than 28 lakh beneficiaries identified and nearly 27.85 lakh houses sanctioned. Over 26 lakh houses have received the first installment, over 17 lakh have received the second, and over 11 lakh have received the third.
To date, Maharashtra has completed 6,05,596 houses, marking the state as the first in the country to achieve this milestone in a single year. Minister Gore outlined that the state received Rs 5,290 crore in 2025–26 and Rs 13,947 crore in 2026–27 for the project, acknowledging delays in installment releases due to technical issues with the Central Government’s online fund distribution system.
