The Maharashtra Government has announced the establishment of 11 new Additional Collector offices across the state to enhance revenue administration accessibility. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule highlighted this move as a significant step towards decentralizing power and providing faster, more efficient services to the public. These new offices aim to address challenges faced in remote areas due to the state’s growing population and administrative workloads, eliminating the need for citizens to travel long distances to district headquarters.
With the final approval from the Cabinet, new offices will be set up in Thane, Ratnagiri, Pune (Baramati), Satara, Solapur, Jalgaon, Nanded, Amravati, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Nagpur. Additionally, to ease the burden on the Settlement Commissioner’s office, two more posts of Additional Collector have been sanctioned. A total of 143 new positions will be created to enhance senior revenue expertise at the local level, ensuring prompt resolution of land and revenue-related matters.
Each of the new Additional Collector offices will be equipped with 13 dedicated officers and staff members, operating in the ‘S-25’ senior pay scale as approved by the Cabinet during its meeting on February 10, 2026. Minister Bawankule also addressed demands for similar facilities in Sakoli and Hinganghat, indicating a potential review post the 2027 Census for district restructuring. The government is actively considering establishing independent Tehsil offices in urban assembly constituencies to address mounting workloads and enhance administrative efficiency.
Proposals for 69 new Additional Tehsildar offices and 10 new Prant offices are in the final stages of approval, signaling a significant reform in Maharashtra’s revenue system. These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to good governance, decentralization, and ensuring citizens have easy access to essential services, aiming to make the revenue system faster, more transparent, and citizen-centric.
