Maharashtra maintains the fifth spot in the country for per capita income, with Gujarat leading the rankings. The state’s per capita income for 2024-25 is reported at Rs 3,17,801, projected to reach Rs 3,47,903 for the current financial year 2025-26, as per the Economic Survey. Maharashtra has consistently held this position for the past few years.
Telangana tops the list with a per capita income of Rs 3,87,623 in 2024-25, followed by Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. The national average per capita income is estimated at Rs 2,19,000 this year, with Maharashtra’s projected income significantly higher at Rs 3,47,000.
There is a notable disparity in per capita income among districts in Maharashtra. While some districts like Mumbai City, Thane, and Pune have incomes above Rs 3 lakh, others fall below Rs 2 lakh. Maharashtra’s economy is diverse, supported by agriculture, industry, and services, with key growth centers like Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur contributing significantly to the state’s economic strength.
Infrastructure development in Maharashtra has seen significant progress in recent years, with investments in various sectors like roads, metro systems, ports, and airports.
