Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has approved the state’s first ‘Maharashtra Quantum Policy’ and ‘Maharashtra Deep Tech Policy’ to advance the technology sector. This move positions Maharashtra as a pioneer in implementing a comprehensive policy for the Deep Tech ecosystem in India. The policies aim to enhance research, innovation, investments, and create high-skilled job opportunities in the state.
The implementation of these policies aligns with the government’s vision to transform Maharashtra into a global technology hub. Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized that these initiatives will drive high-tech investments, cutting-edge research, and employment prospects in the region. Additionally, he sanctioned the establishment of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in collaboration with Prasar Bharati to develop an ‘Integrated Film and Television Media Hub’ at the All India Radio land in Malad.
To overcome existing development restrictions due to No Development Zone (NDZ) and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) regulations, the state plans to facilitate necessary clearances and regulatory amendments. A joint committee will expedite the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and technical aspects for the media hub. The project aims to repurpose unutilized land for expanding the media and entertainment sector alongside Film City.
The proposed media hub will include modern film studios, sound stages, IT infrastructure, and tourism projects. It will also host international-standard film and music training institutes in partnership with global educational institutions. The government aims to finalize all project components and the development plan by the end of June for effective implementation.
