Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Concludes Monsoon Session, Winter Session to Begin on December 7

Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar wrapped up the three-week monsoon session of the state legislature and announced the commencement of the winter session on December 7 in Nagpur. The Speaker adjourned the House sine die, marking the end of the Monsoon Session that ran from June 22 to July 10. Providing an overview of the session, he detailed that the House had 14 sittings with a total of 127 hours and 54 minutes of actual working time.

The Speaker revealed specific statistics from the session, including the time lost due to various reasons and the average daily working time. He mentioned the introduction of two new members to the House and the passing of 11 condolence motions. Additionally, he highlighted the numbers related to starred and unstarred questions, short notice questions, short duration discussions, and various notices received by the secretariat.

The session saw the introduction of government bills, ordinances, and private members’ bills, with details on approvals, rejections, and discussions provided by the Speaker. Notable was the House’s exceptional session on July 9, 2026, where proceedings extended into the early hours of the following day, marking a significant event in the legislative history. The Speaker expressed gratitude to all involved parties for their contributions to the successful functioning of the House.
