The probe into the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak has widened to Bihar, where a late-night raid was conducted at a cyber cafe in Hajipur. Three individuals, including the cafe operator, were taken into custody for questioning. The Maharashtra Special Task Force (STF), along with Vaishali Police, carried out the operation with support from the Thane Police.
The search operation at the cyber cafe on Kachhari Road in Hajipur lasted until about 1:00 A.M. on Thursday. Investigators scrutinized documents and digital devices found at the premises during the raid. Among those detained was Sonu Kumar, the cafe operator, who is currently being interrogated by the Maharashtra STF. No formal arrests have been announced yet, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police sources revealed that various digital items and documents were seized during the raid, which will undergo forensic examination as part of the inquiry. An official from the Maharashtra Police stated that the case is related to the Maharashtra TET paper leak, and further actions are being taken based on the evidence collected. Sonu Kumar’s elder brother mentioned that Sonu had left for Hajipur on Wednesday evening but did not return home, leading to his family’s concern and subsequent discovery of the police action.
The Maharashtra TET paper leak investigation has resulted in arrests across Maharashtra, Bihar, and Haryana. Bijendra Gupta, a resident of Bihar’s Samastipur district, has been identified as the alleged mastermind behind the network, with police conducting raids in multiple states to locate him. Additionally, the Maharashtra STF detained and questioned Gupta’s wife in Patna as part of the financial investigation into the alleged paper leak. Over 4.28 lakh candidates had registered for the Maharashtra TET examination, which was canceled after the question paper allegedly leaked 24 hours before the scheduled test on June 28.
Authorities continue to investigate the case in Bihar, with further actions dependent on the evidence gathered during the ongoing probe.
