Puri Superintendent of Police, Prateek Singh, reported that the primary suspect in the murder of a hotel owner sustained severe gunshot wounds during a police encounter in Odisha’s Puri district. The incident occurred at Hotel Manorama on Dhabaleswar Road, where the owner, Pabitra Nayak, was allegedly attacked and stabbed by a group around 1 a.m.
Chandan Kumar Palar, one of the accused who worked at the hotel, was identified as the individual who assaulted Nayak. Upon receiving the information, the police, led by Inspector Sangita Das, swiftly responded to the scene. Unfortunately, Nayak succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Following the incident, the police initiated an investigation, gathering evidence from the crime scene and witnesses. Chandan Kumar Palar attempted to flee and hide in a cashew grove near Matamath. When the police attempted to apprehend him, he fired at them, resulting in a leg injury. Palar was treated at Puri DHH before being transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka for further medical care.
Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the other suspects involved in the crime, with multiple police teams conducting search operations.
