Under Operation Trinetra in Pratapgarh district, the Arnod Police, supported by the District Special Team and supervised by Superintendent of Police B. Aditya, conducted a significant anti-narcotics operation. During the raid, 7.387 kg of banned chemical powder, 2-Bromo-4-methylpropiophenone, a key ingredient in making MD (Mephedrone), along with 5 grams of the finished drug, were confiscated. The total value of the seized materials in the global market is estimated to be around Rs 5.60 crore.
Acting on specific intelligence and with the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Gajendra Singh Jodha and Circle Officer Chandrashekhar Paliwal, the police discovered that Abid Khan, a resident of Naungawa, was allegedly producing MD near a well on his farmland with the help of family members. Following this information, teams led by Arnod Station House Officer Shivlal Meena and District Special Team In-charge Pratap Singh swiftly conducted a joint raid. A sack containing the banned chemical powder was found concealed under foliage near a water tank adjacent to the well, along with a small packet of prepared MD.
This operation is significant as it marks the first recorded seizure of the newly banned chemical in Pratapgarh district. Superintendent of Police Aditya emphasized the importance of this breakthrough for local law enforcement. The accused, Abid Khan, was arrested on the spot, and a case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Authorities are now focusing on investigating the source of the chemical and tracing the supply network, including potential distribution locations for the manufactured MD.
