At least 18 people lost their lives in a tragic fire that erupted in a three-story commercial building in Aliganj, Lucknow. The building accommodated a coaching center, a gaming zone, and other establishments. The victims, aged between 20 and 24 years, faced a devastating situation as the fire rapidly engulfed the premises.
The blaze, which started in the afternoon within the coaching center, quickly filled the building with thick smoke, causing panic among students and visitors. Some individuals resorted to jumping from upper floors and the terrace to escape, resulting in severe injuries. Eyewitnesses reported the initial sighting of smoke billowing from the building, followed by a rapid spread of the fire throughout the structure.
Emergency response teams from the fire brigade, police, and district administration promptly arrived at the scene to manage the crisis. Senior officials, including the District Magistrate and Police Commissioner, oversaw the rescue and relief operations. To aid those trapped inside, rescue teams even created an escape route by drilling a hole in the building’s wall.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and announced financial assistance for the affected families. Adityanath cut short his visit to Aligarh to return to Lucknow and meet the victims in the hospital.
