Greater Noida recently saw significant police actions resulting in the apprehension of suspects involved in ATM fraud and chain snatching. During these operations, law enforcement recovered weapons, stolen items, and incriminating evidence. Notably, one individual in each case sustained a leg injury during the encounters.
In the first incident, an encounter occurred between the police and a group of alleged ATM fraudsters in the Bisrakh police station area of Greater Noida. The police action led to the injury of one suspect, while two others were arrested on the spot. The gang had devised a scheme to target ATM users by tampering with their cards and then posing as helpline representatives to obtain confidential PIN details.
Authorities seized an illegal firearm, live cartridges, a stolen motorcycle, equipment used in the ATM fraud, and cash believed to be linked to the criminal activities. Investigators are now delving into the criminal backgrounds of the arrested individuals and exploring potential connections to similar crimes in other regions.
In a separate case, the Beta-2 police in Greater Noida apprehended a man accused of multiple chain-snatching incidents targeting women. During a late-night encounter near Baba Gol Chakkar, the suspect sustained a leg injury while attempting to evade arrest. The police had received intelligence inputs leading to the operation, where they engaged with suspects on motorcycles, resulting in a chase and exchange of gunfire.
The injured suspect, identified as Rajendra, also known as Lallu and Lilu, hails from Gorakhpur and was residing in Site-5, Kasna. Recovered items included an illegal pistol, cartridges, a stolen motorcycle, a gold chain believed to be snatched, and suspected stolen mobile phones. Initial investigations revealed Rajendra’s extensive criminal history, with over 28 serious cases against him, primarily involving armed robberies and snatching valuables, especially from women.
Both cases remain under investigation, with ongoing efforts to track down additional suspects and gather more details.
