The Kerala Police leadership witnessed significant changes following the transition to the V.D. Satheesan-led government. Around 30 senior IPS officers, including district police chiefs, have been reassigned in a major restructuring move. Notably, P. Vijayan has been appointed as the new ADGP overseeing Law and Order, with additional responsibility for Cyber Operations.
In this reshuffle, ADGP S. Sreejith has been reassigned as the new ADGP (Prisons), while Balram Kumar Upadhyay now heads the Armed Police Battalion as ADGP. H. Venkitesh assumes full charge as Crime Branch ADGP, and Dinendra Kashyap takes over as Intelligence ADGP.
At the IG level, Harshitha Attalluri is now IG at Police Headquarters, S. Shyam Sundar takes on the role of IG for the newly established Crime Branch X-Cadre, and R. Nishanthini transitions to Intelligence IG. Yatish Chandra moves from Kannur Range DIG to Ernakulam Range DIG, Karthik becomes Thrissur Range DIG from Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, and Narayanan T. shifts from Thrissur Range DIG to Kannur Range DIG.
Dr. Arul R.B. Krishna is appointed as the new Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, marking a notable change. The reshuffle also brings officers like Shoukathali and Shaji Sugunan into key law-and-order roles. Shoukathali, now Kozhikode City Police Commissioner, previously handled the investigation into the murder case of T. P. Chandrasekharan.
These sweeping changes reflect the Satheesan government’s administrative influence on the police force, indicating a shift in priorities at the state’s law enforcement apex.
