Malayalam actor Mammootty, who won the Best Actor Award for ‘Bramayugam’, and Dhanush, who clinched two National Awards for acting and direction, recently celebrated their wins with director Rajkumar Periasamy and editor Kalaivanan on the set of their upcoming film ‘Om’. Mammootty shared a photo of the four cutting a cake together, expressing gratitude for the support.
Mammootty and Kartik Aaryan jointly received the Best Actor award at the 72nd National Film Awards. Director Rajkumar Periasamy, now working on ‘Om’, won Best Director for ‘Amaran’, a film based on Major Mukund Varadarajan’s life. Editor Kalaivannan, also part of ‘Om’, won Best Editing for ‘Amaran’.
Dhanush, a Tamil star, secured National Awards for ‘Raayan’ and ‘Captain Miller’. ‘Raayan’, his directed film, was honored as the Best Tamil feature, while ‘Captain Miller’ earned him a Special Mention. Director Rajkumar Periasamy revealed that Mammootty plays Karthikeyan in ‘Om’, with filming progress at 60-65%.
The film ‘Om’, set to release on October 16, hints at a possible sequel with its Chapter 1 tagline. However, Rajkumar Periasamy clarified that the first part would be self-contained. The story revolves around red sanders cutters, with Dhanush portraying a woodcutter who aids workers in a tough situation.
