Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim recently congratulated Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on his assumption of office. During a phone call, Ibrahim shared that he intends to visit India in September to participate in the BRICS Summit and meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Expressing his support, Ibrahim conveyed his best wishes to CM Vijay for his leadership in Tamil Nadu. This marks the second time within a short span that Ibrahim has extended his congratulations to Vijay following his victory in the Tamil Nadu elections. On a previous occasion, Ibrahim emphasized the strong historical and cultural ties between Malaysia and Tamil Nadu.
Highlighting the significance of the relationship between Malaysia and Tamil Nadu, Ibrahim praised Vijay’s transition from a popular actor to a political leader. He lauded Vijay’s commitment to serving the people of Tamil Nadu and expressed optimism for future collaborations between the two regions.
India is set to host the BRICS Summit in 2026 under the theme of ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability,’ aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a people-centric and sustainable approach to global cooperation.
