A video posted by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson in West Bengal shows Mamata Banerjee allegedly pressuring a hospital CEO to admit her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, despite medical reports suggesting no serious injuries. The BJP spokesperson criticized this act as an attempt to misuse medical facilities for political gain. He emphasized that such actions undermine public trust and democratic principles.
Abhishek Banerjee, a Trinamool Congress leader, faced harassment and assault after visiting the family of a party worker who was a victim of post-poll violence. Initially taken to one hospital, he was later transferred to another in central Kolkata for examination. However, the hospital at Minto Park deemed no admission necessary after a thorough check-up, issuing a medical certificate stating the same.
Mamata Banerjee expressed displeasure at the hospital’s decision, alleging pressure from the state administration to deny proper treatment to her nephew. She claimed that the hospital’s refusal was influenced by external forces. Despite this, she left the premises with Abhishek Banerjee after the incident. Reports indicate that he has returned to his residence in south Kolkata.
