After a three-day search, Mahim Police have apprehended Anas Ansari, 19, for allegedly assaulting Naveen Prasanna, 35, with a knife outside Mahim Railway Station. The arrest was made in Mumbai’s Wadala area, but the weapon used in the attack is still missing.
Authorities identified Ansari through extensive CCTV footage analysis, leading to his capture in Wadala. It was revealed that he had disposed of the knife post-assault. Efforts are ongoing to locate the weapon, while Ansari is under interrogation.
The incident occurred on June 25, with Prasanna, a resident of Mahim, being attacked while returning home from work. Following a minor collision at the station, the situation escalated, resulting in Prasanna being seriously injured and hospitalized at Sion Hospital.
The recent attack echoes a previous tragic event on June 22, where Mayank Lohar, 22, was fatally stabbed inside a moving Mumbai local train. The altercation, sparked by a disagreement over open coach doors during heavy rain, led to Lohar being critically wounded. The suspect, Roshan Suvarna, 30, was later arrested in Kurla after a widespread police operation.
