A man in Chaibasa, Jharkhand, was arrested for reportedly attacking his pregnant sister-in-law and her eight-year-old daughter with an axe. The incident, which occurred in Maria Sai Tola, has shocked the local community.
The victims, identified as Nanika Birua, 30, and her daughter Sharmila Birua, 8, were fatally wounded during the attack. The accused, Ramay Birua, allegedly entered the house in the absence of Nanika’s husband and initiated the assault following a dispute.
Upon the husband’s return, the accused attempted to attack him as well but was unsuccessful. Subsequently, the police were alerted, leading to the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the weapon used in the crime.
Locals have suggested that the incident was triggered by a family dispute. Additionally, there are claims that the accused was intoxicated during the attack, an angle currently being investigated by the authorities.
